Kimberly Nicholson

Kimberly (she/her) is a fourth-year student studying International Development and Anthropology with a minor in Indigenous studies. This is her third year with the Catalyst and she is thrilled to step into the role of Editor-in-Chief. Kimberly aims to highlight the high-quality work that the Catalyst team creates and expand the platform beyond McGill. She is beyond proud of each Catalyst staff member and looks forward to a successful year. In her studies and research, Kimberly is interested in global health, geopolitics, Indigenous rights, and women’s rights. Most recently, she has researched climate resilience in communities in Trinidad and Tobago.

Misbah Lalani

Misbah Lalani (she/her/hers) is entering her fourth year at McGill, majoring in International Development Studies and minoring in Economics. This is her fourth year with Catalyst, and she is excited to collaborate with staff writers and editors to continue the impactful work of Catalyst. She has a special interest in the legal field and South Asian feminism movements.

Ruqayya Farrah

Ruqayya (she/her) is entering her final year at McGill, where she is pursuing International Development Studies complemented by minors in Political Science and Hispanic Studies. Building on her previous year’s experience, she’s back for a final term as part of the Catalyst family! Her interests orbit around foreign affairs, diplomacy, and sustainable development.

Francophone Section Director

Lauren Kandalaft

Lauren (she/her) is in her third year at McGill, majoring in International Development and minoring in Communications and Social Entrepreneurship. Having been both an editor and writer amongst Catalyst’s francophone team for the last year, she is particularly excited to fulfill her new role as the Francophone Section Director. She cannot wait to work with new and returning members of Catalyst’s francophone section for another year and contribute to sharing knowledge about the international development field in French! Her interests include migrants’ rights, diplomacy, economic development and journalism.

Madeleine Wright

Madeleine Wright is a fourth-year student from Ottawa in Honours International Development with a minor in Economics. She is excited to be the newsletter director so she can continue to bring a spotlight to international development-related news and provide a voice to marginalized groups.

Sophia Ocana
Creative Director

Sophia Ocana

Sophia (she/her) is in her third year at McGill, where she is pursuing a major in international development, alongside a minor in both anthropology and communications. Sophia’s role as creative director allows her to combine her passion for art with her love for international development, evident in the original graphic artwork she creates for Catalyst.

Lia Ferguson
Social Media Director

Lia Ferguson

Lia (she/her) is a fourth-year student in Sustainability, Science and Society, with a minor in Urban Studies. She is excited to step into her role as Catalyst’s social media director, where she will showcase Catalyst’s great work and share opportunities to get involved. Her personal interests include health geography, environmental justice, and the intersection between environment and development.
